Both my mother and my grandmother made homemade soups. I always loved the smell of the soup floating through the air all day long. I still love homemade soups, but now I know that homemade soup recipes are easier than you might think.
Soups are the ultimate thrifty meal! I love soups for this very reason. If I have it in my refrigerator and it needs to be used – it’s probably going to be good in some kind of soup.
Homemade bone broth is available commercially – I checked. But the prices? Get this. One of the only bone broths that I would even consider purchasing is both organic and non-GMO and is made in the same way that I make mine. But the price? Over $100 a gallon! I’m not saying that the health benefits might not be worth the price per day…but if you could make that same bone broth for a fraction of the price – wouldn’t you do that? I try to always have bone broth in my freezer for quickly throwing together an easy soup recipe.
Bone broth (what nana and my mother called “stock”) is filled with unique health benefits. For that reason, I’m trying to incorporate more of it into our diets – not only into soup – but it makes a regular soup recipe an easy soup recipe. And quick.
Like my healthy muffin recipes, having broth, frozen homemade soups, and easy soup recipes around just makes life easier. So I’m sharing my easy soup recipes with you and I’ll keep creating and sharing more!
One of the final reasons that I love all of these recipes is because I feel that they are actually adding to our nutrition for the day and helping to make our family healthier.
Let me know which recipes you try and what you think!
