Are you tired of sneezing and having runny eyes and a runny nose? Tired of taking over the counter medications that make you exhausted? Here are 5 of the best natural allergy remedies. www.themidlifemamas.com #naturalremedies #naturalremedy #naturalallergyrelief

Sharing is caring!

Natural allergy relief for seasonal allergies is my personal holy grail.  Fall and spring allergies are my nemesis! And for some reason, my fall allergies have worsened as an adult. I need natural allergy relief for my puffy, runny, sticky, red eyes; a runny nose; crazy sneezing and over-zealous tissue use; coughing; sore throat – the Full Monty. Oversharing? Apologies.

As a child, my throat swelled almost shut and was incredibly painful. I could barely swallow and I ultimately had my tonsils removed – which helped. Some. I remember having headaches and seeing “floaters.” Seeing floaters convinced my inner drama queen that I would be blind by day’s end. The drama queen in me begged and pleaded with my mother – not only was I sick, I was certain death was imminent. I should not be forced to die at school. It could be uncomfortable for my classmates and it would definitely be cruel and unusual. Unfortunately for me, my mother’s sympathy was reserved exclusively for those with “the big C.” I’m pretty sure she couldn’t bring herself to say the entire word.

Fast forward to the next generation. Both of my sons have seasonal allergies. One worse than the other. Once, he asked “Mommy, do you think we can get my teachers to help with my allergies?” So sweet! So since it’s not something the teacher can fix, I’ll share my tips with you. Supporting your body’s respiratory, digestive, and immune systems so that they can function at their very best is one of the most important things you can do during allergy season.

Seasonal Respiratory Support with Therapeutic Essential Oils

Get powerful seasonal respiratory support with therapeutic grade lemon, lavender, and peppermint essential oils. www.themidlifemamas.com #nautralrespiratorysupport #essentialoils #youngliving #lemonlavenderpeppermint
Lemon, lavender and peppermint provide strong respiratory system support no matter what season!

The trifecta of essential oils for seasonal respiratory support is Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint (LLP). (All of which can be found in Young Living’s Premium Starter Kit!) There are two main ways that you can use LLP – you can diffuse the trio or you can mix up a roller bottle recipe. I put this combo in a roller bottle and used it on our feet and forehead. I also diffuse LLP routinely during allergy season. Lemon, lavender, and peppermint provide amazing seasonal respiratory support- helping my respiratory system to perform it’s best during any season!

Natural Allergy Relief with Quercetin

I added a supplement of quercetin to provide even more support. Quercetin is an amazing flavonoid that is a natural antihistamine providing natural allergy relief. Quercetin has been shown to stabilize mast cells – which are the buggers that release all that histamine and other inflammatory signals that serve to make allergy symptoms miserable. Great dietary sources of quercetin are apples and quinoa. You can find the quercetin we use in a supplement form online.

Natural Allergy Relief from a Healthy, Not Overactive, Immune System

Keeping your immune system at its very best will help it do exactly what it was perfectly designed to do - keep you healthy. www.themidlifemamas.com #naturalallergyrelief #allergyrelief
Help your immune system deliver a knockout punch to seasonal allergies and discomfort!

Allergies are actually your body’s immune system overreacting to perceived invaders. Seventy percent of our immune system is located in our gut. So maintaining you gut health and immune system is absolutely key to having an efficiently functioning immune system. To help maintain gut health, in addition to eating as many fruits and veggies as I can, I take a really good probiotic every day. It’s important to switch your probiotic brands out every couple of months to maximize the variety of strains that your body is getting. I currently take this probiotic. But the adults in our home aren’t the only ones taking a probiotic. The boys do also and since they can’t swallow pills yet, a chewable that’s tasty is a must.

Natural Allergy Relief with Apple Cider Vinegar

Organic, unfiltered, apple cider vinegar (with the “Mother”) is thought to help reduce the body’s mucus production. I haven’t used it specifically for allergies, but I take a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar every morning diluted in a small glass of water. I’ve been taking it since reading The 21 Day Belly Fix so that I can better support my body’s proper pH level, gut health, and immune system.

Natural Allergy Relief with Local Honey & Bee Pollen

Local honey and bee pollen are only two of many really great sources for natural allergy relief. www.themidlifemamas.com #naturalremedy #naturalremedies #naturalallergyrelief
Local honey and bee pollen are great sources of natural allergy relief.

One teaspoon of raw honey 2-3 times per day is said to help relieve allergy symptoms. I haven’t tried honey myself for seasonal allergy relief. I’ve read that the closer to where you live the honey comes from, the better. Also, the health benefits of bee pollen are well known. While I don’t use bee pollen specifically for seasonal allergy relief, I do always toss a pinch of bee pollen into any smoothie that I make. And I think that it’s delicious in oatmeal 🙂 At least one study has revealed that bee pollen was 100% effective on 94% of the study participants.

I’m hope you will find relief with some or all of the suggestions above. But, just in case, check out my Pintrest Board with natural allergy relief suggestions. Then I would love to hear about natural allergy relief that works for you!
